Feedback on my directory

First of all, I would like to give a big thanks to my readers and authors who make this article directory (and web directory) up and running until now. Without you all, this directory will be silent and meaningless. By the way, I’m a real person, not a bot or automated script running behind onlinejer.com. (You can view real me at my blog)

After went live for more than 6 months, it’s time now to gather feedback from my visitors about this article and web directory. I admit that onlinejer.com is not perfect and it has some weakness that i need to look after it, so your feedbacks are very valuable for me to bring this article directory to the new level

The feedbacks could be on any topics such as performance, loading time, user interface, content, suggestion, relevancy or anything as long as it does not spamming this blog :)

Your feedback won’t goes unrewarded. I’m not earning so much yet from onlinejer.com, so I can’t offer monetary reward for it. However, the best or honest feedback will receive an advertisement space on my article directory’s front page, at the right column under ’search box’ for 2 months. As a result, you will get an exposure from around 17k visitors

notes: I reserved the right to change any info regarding this offer, but any changes will be informed first to the readers

DoFollow tag for link submitted with reciprocal link

I have been thinking how to promote my web directory more efficiently. At the end I have decided to remove ‘nofollow’ tag to whoever submit link to my link directory with reciprocal on it (provided it was fulfill the terms and condition)

Even though reciprocal link no longer efficient to increase our ranking , but I think it is still worth to be tried. Even If search engine ignore it, it still can get attention from visitors which at least can contribute some traffic to us

You must get this

There is a very huge software giveaway that you must take a chance today. It’s free and indeed very useful for part time internet marketer like me who depend on free or cheap but useful tool to enhance our skills and increase incomes

For those who want to find an alternatives income other than par-per-click(ppc) program like adsense, this is correct place to start it on.

I won’t write long describing this offer since i’m busy looking for good stuff over there. Again, grab it know while it still open.

Cheers

Simple tips to bring traffic.

This is article from my article directory. It list down 15 steps to improve your traffic. I put down the list here, but for the full report, you will need to read there. The points that grab my attention are # 2 and 3 which i never think of it before even though i have used this service for quite sometime. Sounds logical for me, but not sure what is the end result.
1. Create at least four keyword posts per day. Most of the top blogs such as Boing Boing, Daily Kos, and Instapundit (with literally tens of thousands of visitors per day) publish an average of 30 small 100-150 word posts per day according to “Secrets of the A-list Bloggers: Lots of Short Posts” by TNL.net

2. Submit to My Yahoo! When you submit your own RSS to My Yahoo it is indexed by Yahoo.

3. Submit to Google’s Reader. When you submit your own blog RSS to Google’s Reader the Google Blog Search will index your site.

4. Add a relevant link directory to your blog and trade links like a demon possessed! Although it may take more time than simply submitting to a search engine one time, this method is perhaps the best way to drive traffic to your site. Use software such as Zeus to speed up the link trading process.

5. Use ping sites like ping-o-matic. Ping your site every time you add a new post.

6. Submit your blog to traditional search engines such as AltaVista, and MSN.

7. Submit your blog to traditional directories such as DMOZ. Directories (particularly DMOZ) increase relevance with Google. DMOZ is very picky, but what do you have to lose by trying?

8. Submit to as many RSS Directories and Search Engines as possible. This is a simple but repetitive process that can be done with software such as RSS SUBMIT.

9. Comment on other blogs. Do not just leave short, lazy comments like “I agree.” Leave well thought out replies that will force readers to wonder “who wrote this?”

10. Use track backs. If there is a blog that you refer to or quote and it is highly relevant to your subject, leave a track back. It increases your link popularity and may even score a few interested readers from the linked site.

11. Go offline. Use newspaper ads, public bulletin boards, business cards, even stickers to let as many people as possible know your blog exists.

12. Add a link to your blog in your e-mail signature block.

13. Use Groups (Usenet). Find a relevant group on Google groups, Yahoo groups, MSN groups or any of the thousands of other FREE group services and find like minded people and talk with them. Make sure to use your blog URL like it is your name.

14. Use Forums. Forums are one of the best places to go for advice. Go to forums and find problems to solve. Make sure you leave your blog name, but be tactful about it; some forums get annoyed with those who selfishly drop a few links to their own site and leave.

15. Tag your website. Tagging is a new idea that has erupted across the web. Sites like Del.icio.us, Technorati and many others have a social feature that allows you to place your article under keywords or “tags” that everyone interested in that tag can see.

As usual, don’t forget to read more about it @ onlinejer.com

New web directory

I just completed configuring my Web Directory  using script from PHPLD. This idea started when i received few request from the authors on my Article Directory to exchange link, which i put initially here. When the link grows bigger, i felt that this won’t be good to my hard and hard for me to keep track of them as well as my author. From there i decide to have new web directory and after reviewing few script, i’m interested with PHPLD because of it widely used by other directory owner, but more importantly it is free (for version 2.1).

Read my tech blog to know more where is the main source of information and which site support this script.

All site inclusion is free of charge including ‘Featured Listing’. However ‘Featured Listing’ is given on first come first serve basis (max 5) and the site must have at least PR3. Feel free to comment and contact me for details

Digg combating articles spam

http://news.com.com/Digg+continues+to+battle+phony+stories/2100-1025_3-6144652.html

Digg one of my favourite social bookmarking, has stricten it policy to combat spamming of articles submitted to them. Karim Yergaliyev, one of Digg’s top-rated users has had his account deleted due to violating the digg’s term and condition.

Digg which has reputation as the most successfull and highly rated social bookmarking has attracted thousand of marketer to take advantage of its vast amount of member and reader to their site by submitting articles which has marketing related content inside.

This is frustating to the readers, since most of them visit digg to find high quality source of knowledge and not promotin articles. I’m personally agree with what Digg has done so far, in order to maintain its reputation as well as to only keep useful articles and attract genuine readers

Promote your site at www.selfpromotion.com

I have came accross this website when i read book ‘How to make money online’ which i bought yesterday for RM29. There are a lot of interesting features there, such as submit your site to search engine automatically, submit your site to directories and etc. The owner of this site, Robert Woodhead has generously let us use it for free. If you satisfied with the services, you can donate to him anytime
But most importantly, it has tutorial how to prepare your site before submitted to search engine and directories. This is crucial part since most of the time, people find your site from search engine.

However, with time changes, some of the directories listed no longer accept automatic submission or they start charging some fee to get listed. That is how world now ;) .

I’m not sure what is outcome of this tool to my website, hopefully i will get better ranking or known by internet folks out there. Will let you know the result 2-3 days later.

Have a nice day..
